The five most popular social networks in the world have not
changed in recent years. Three of them - Youtube, Facebook, Instagram -
are well known in Russia. Two Chinese social networks supplement the list
of leaders. They did not spread influence in Europe and the USA, but

conducted a study on the mention of platforms in social networks in August
2019. The Russian-language segment of social media was considered
(Twitter, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LiveJournal,
forums and blogs). Data without self-citation was taken into account.

YouTube is the leader by mentioning - 24.7 million messages, followed by Instagram
- 13 million and VKontakte - 8.2 million.



Snapchat
ranked 11th and 12th — 0.4 million mentions, and My World — 0.2 million,
respectively.

Earlier, Mediascope conducted a study on the audience of platforms; VKontakte
with 37.9 million people, Instagram with 30.6 million and Odnoklassniki with
23.1 million were leaders in terms of the number of monthly users.

Despite the fact that Snapchat is in the eleventh place by reference, it became
the fifth according to the audience of the social network in Russia for the
first half of 2019, follows from the data of Mediascope.
